the Laundry Basket

Why laundry, you may ask...
Think about it; Laundry is the wash cycle of life.

It begins when we do, and ends when we do. Other people's laundry is the same, beginning and ending, beginning and ending....
No sooner have you finished one load, the next begins piling up in the basket.

And what do we have inside the laundry basket? We have the dirty stuff. The smelly things. The crumpled, the torn and the worn out.
We have the new stuff, the still stiff and needing softening stuff, and the good old reliable things - comforting and familiar.

We have the stuff we have outgrown, the clothes that are too tight or too loose - the things that fit well....and those that don't really fit at all. We have the things we keep, and the things we should have tossed out a long time ago.

And the stains. The hard to clean. The "hope this comes out and nobody sees" things.

Sometimes the load is full, sometimes there is more than one, or two...and sometimes it dwindles to very little. Sometimes we wash for one, or two, or five...then back to two..or one.
And we diligently sort. We try to make order. We make neat little piles. The darks, the lights, the delicates. We shove it into the washer, pour in the soap and the softener. And we wait.
We watch it go through the wash and the spin. We see it go through the wringer, getting every last drop of life squeezed from every fibre.

And we take it out in the hope of getting that sweet smell of clean. But as we all know, some stuff shrinks. The color runs in one causing another to be changed unexpectedly...and some stains just will not come out. Ever.

So we hang it out to dry, we try to iron out the wrinkles....and start it all over again.

Life is the laundry basket, and I invite you to explore it with me.
